Hi,

I'm working with ptxdist-2011.09.0. Unfortunately I can not build my
rootfs anymore because I can't get util-linux and some other packages:

Connecting to www.pengutronix.de|78.47.139.85|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
2011-09-19 16:11:04 ERROR 404: Not Found.

Kernel.org is offline as you all might know, but also on the ptxdist
mirror the archives can not be found.
Is there any other mirror where I can obtain the archives, or can you
upload the archives to the mirror site?

Best Regards
Hubert

The ptxdist site is only there for a fallback if an upstream source
disappears for the long term.

Try downloading the tarball from somewhere else (jusg google for the
tarball), i.e.

http://ftp.wh2.tu-dresden.de/pub/mirrors/kernel.org/linux/utils/util-linux-ng/v2.19/

Just download the source from
http://mirror.be.gbxs.net/pub/linux/utils/util-linux/v2.19/ and place it in
your source directory.

An easy way to find packages that you are unable to download is to search
google with the package name with the .tar.bz2 (or whatever other
compression prefix) included in the search and then just download them and
place in your source directory.

Thanks,

Reminds on some things I heard in a talk [1] at the Chemnitzer Linux
Tage this year: to ensure reproducible builds you should have a backup
of every source archive you ever downloaded and build in your project.
We do this by setting SETUP_SRCDIR to a shared file system on a network
server for which regular backups are done.

I fully agree, but for the very first build after migrating I have to
fetch the new archives from somewhere :)

Thank you all for the quick responses.

I you want to backup a project you also can run

  ptxdist export_src <where_you_want>

This will save all archives the project depends on into <where_you_want> (and
keeps the project's backup a little bit smaller).
