Hi,
I'm happy to announce that I've just released ptxdist-2024.01.0.
There is a lot of cleanup in this release. The several packages have been
removed after more than one year in staging. Most notably the xorg-server
and related patches. This does not mean, that X applications can no longer
be built with PTXdist. All the necessary support libraries are still there
and XWayland can be used to run them on a Wayland compositor.
The Python handling at build time has been cleaned up. There where some
packages that where built for host-system-python3 but also used with
host-python3. That can be problematic when the versions differ. So there
are now separate packages for both. And all packages used with
host-system-python3 are now in a proper virtualenv.
Note that the upstream systemd.pc has changed. It now reports the systemd
unit dir relativ to sysroot. If you rely on that to find the correct path
then either use PTXDIST_PKG_CONFIG_VAR_NO_SYSROOT=systemdsystemunitdir in
the environment to remove the sysroot or specify the path explicitly. The
latter is preferred as it avoids an unnecessary dependency on systemd in
many cases.
The rest is the usual mix of new packages, version bumps and bugfixes.
Thanks to all contributors and - as always - the shortlog below.
Enjoy,
Michael Olbrich
