Hi,

how do you convert the busybox' to ptxdist own config? I found those .in files
under config/busybox, but didn't find an script to convert them. I need an own
set of config files to integrate busybox into an initramfs with its own
configuration.

Best regards,
Alexander

As far as I remember from last week, ptxdist .in file just sources the
Kconfig from busybox. Busybox uses the same config system, it's just
assimilated. ;-)

Because of curiosity I just had another look on this. Speaking of
ptxdist 2012.03.0, rules/busybox.in contains this shortly before end of
file:

 73 source "config/busybox/Config.in"

This file is distributed with ptxdist itself. Busybox source contains a
very similar file, so I did a diff against both, which starts like this:

 --- platform-at91sam9g20ncl/build-target/busybox-1.18.5/Config.in
2011-06-12 17:41:51.00000000 0 +0200

This goes on for a while, each config option is prefixed with BUSYBOX_,
I guess some script or editor magic did this. In the end there are
additionally sourced files also from busybox source tree, which are part
of the ptxdist source tree, too. Same magic here. If you look at the
last changes to busybox package in Git, you'll see these files are
changed for each busybox version bump:
http://git.pengutronix.de/?p=ptxdist.git;a=history;f=config/busybox;hb=HEAD

However I couldn't find any script in ptxdist source for doing the
conversion of files from one to the other source tree, maybe the
commiter has one?!

Hope this is a little more clear than my guessing from memory
yesterday. O:-)

Argh, there's one step I forgot. In rules/busybox.make this is of
course converted back to a config file busybox build understands, but
because of the equal prefix, this is a trivial task with sed:

 37 $(STATEDIR)/busybox.prepare:
 38 @$(call targetinfo)
 39
 40     @cd $(BUSYBOX_DIR) && \
 41 $(BUSYBOX_PATH) \
 42 $(MAKE) distclean $(BUSYBOX_MAKE_OPT)
 43 @grep -e PTXCONF_BUSYBOX_ $(PTXDIST_PTXCONFIG) | \
 44 sed -e 's/PTXCONF_BUSYBOX_/CONFIG_/g' >
$(BUSYBOX_DIR)/.config
 45
 46 @$(call ptx/oldconfig, BUSYBOX)
 47
 48 @$(call touch)

;-)

That's the forward part to convert a ptxdist busybox config to the busybox
original config. But how to create the ptxdist internal one from busybox?

Marc, Ladislav,
do you mind sharing the script, command, whatever to convert the busybox
config to the ptxdist one?

Regards,
Alexander

Here you go:

ptxdist make busybox_import

which triggers a rule in here:
rules/post/ptxd_make_import.make

Thanks! With a hardcoded package name set instead of using
PTX_MAP_TO_PACKAGE_, it does what I expected.
BTW: Does this script respect ${PTXDIST_WORKSPACE}/rules?

The rules in workspace are included with higher priority, so they should
be respected.
