Hello,

I tried to compile the new OSELAS Toolchain (2013.12.1) 
with ptxdist-2013.12.0 and  I got the following error :

Whenever you run a PTXdist command it logs some information 
into "platform-*/logfile". Can you send me this file to get an idea what you 
have done?

I have some bad feeling about your 'é' in the pathname. I think this
depends on many other things if this works correctly or not, like used
iocharset and available locales, etc...

I test it on my machine and it works well, but maybe I have the right
settings on my machine.

Try it with only ascii based pathname and of course send the log file
which Juergen already mentioned.

Strange behaviour on your system. We have no idea what is going wrong at your 
side.
Some questions which sometimes had helped in the past: What kind of host system 
do you use? 32/64 bit? What distribution? What kind of shell is installed on 
your system? Bash/Dash/SH? What 'make' revision do you use?

It is a Linux distribution (32 bits i suppose) : Ubuntu 12.04, use of dash shell. I use ptxdist-2013.12.0 : how can I check the 'make' revision ?

Hmm, I'm using the same 'make' than you do. My system is a 64 bit type, but
we also run our PTXdist on 32 bit system types. We run out of ideas what
is going wrong on your machine.

Ahhhhh, I see the difference by typing the exact same command than you did:

/usr/local/lib/ptxdist-2013.12.0/bin/ptxdist select arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf_gcc-4.8.3_glibc-2.18_binutils-2.24_kernel-3.13.6-sanitized.ptxconfig
error: cannot select
        'arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf_gcc-4.8.3_glibc-2.18_binutils-2.24_kernel-3.13.6-sanitized.ptxconfig'
        does not exist, or is not a file.

It seems you have a separate file called "arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf_gcc-4.8.3_glibc-2.18_binutils-2.24_kernel-3.13.6-sanitized.ptxconfig".
Where does it comes from? Our toolchain package only comes with a
"arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf_gcc-4.8.3_glibc-2.18_binutils-2.24_kernel-3.12-sanitized.ptxconfig".

So, when I change your command to our predefined toolchain config it works:

Juergen,

it's not the problem of this file. It's the same with the original file. I joined the file i used (there was light changes).
The problem occurred the first time when I tried to use the joined document "Application Note : work with sources". Maybe, I made something wrong... but there are bugs also in the document :-) so I gave up and the problem remains. Maybe the problem is linked to rules files...

Where is this step on your machine? Does the "/opt/OSELAS.Toolchain-2013.12.1/arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf/"
directory already exist and already contains a toolchain?

How do "Application Note : work with sources" correlates with building a
toolchain? What do you intend to do?

First of all: this document is veeeery old. Please try the current "How to
become a PTXdist guru" [1] instead.

Please keep the toolchain building a separate step. Start with the
"arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf" toolchain.

1- OK for the mailing list
2- Yes, the directory "/opt/OSELAS.Toolchain-2013.12.1/arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf/" exists and contains a toolchain.
3- I wrote a source and need to create all needed files to be used with Ptxdist. I usually use "how to become a Ptxdist Guru" but there is nothing explained to start from sources without makefile, etc.
4- I have created another project for my sources and don't compile in the toolchain directory
5- It seems the problem appears when I launched the "$ pxtdist compile my_packet" command. Something was broken but where ? I have installed again the toolchain and ptxdist but the problem remains...

Where is this step on your machine? Does the "/opt/OSELAS.Toolchain-2013.12.1/arm-v7a-linux-gnueabihf/"
directory already exist and already contains a toolchain?

To build binaries from sources you always need some kind of management. 
And "make" is the tool here which does exactly this job. How do you build your 
sources without "make"? Do you call your compiler manually for each source 
file?

But you sent us the logs from building your toolchain, not from your project.

Then send us your project or the logs from your project and not the logfile 
from your toolchain build.

Hi Juergen,

2- the directories exist but I can't compile the toolchain so they are empty.
3, 4 ,5- My problem was not to compile from sources with ptxdist because finally i did that, without ptxdist, with a cross-compile makefile but to compile a new BSP provided by TQ Group (Linux BSP TQMa6x Rev.0101) for which I need to compile another ptxdist and a more recent OSELAS Toolchain.

Finally, I install the new ptxdist and new toolchain on an old Linux PC and I succeeded to build the new BSP. But I would like to understand what was the problem... and how could I solve it...
