Getting the list of selected packages is simple:

ptxdist print PACKAGES-y
ptxdist print HOST_PACKAGES-y
ptxdist print CROSS_PACKAGES-y

But no idea how to create the variable names from the resulting list to get the 
_VERSION aso content.

Maybe Marc or Michael have an idea.
