[ptxdist] [ANNOUNCE] OSELAS.Toolchain() 2012.12.0 released

[Michael Olbrich]

Hildesheim, Germany - Pengutronix has released version 2012.12.0 of the
Open Source GNU toolchain build system OSELAS.Toolchain(). With
OSELAS.Toolchain(), you can build your own gcc based cross compilers
which run on any Linux distribution.

This is a major release with significant changes. All components of the
primary toolchains have been updated to the latest versions. The highlights
are:
 - gcc 4.7.2
 - glibc 2.16.0
 - binutils 2.22
 - gdb 7.5
 - kernel headers 3.6

We've also removed several older toolchains that have not seen any updates
in some time. Instead several new toolchains have been added:
 - i686-atom-linux-gnu that optimizes by default for Atom processors
 - arm-cortexm3-uclinux-gnueabi a uClibc toolchain for Cortex-M3
 - Hardfloat toolchains for ARM11, Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A8
 - x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu a generic 64bit toolchain

Maybe a stupid question, but what's the difference between "gnueabi" and
"gnueabihf"?

Hardfloat leads me to the next question:

I build a Raspberry Pi hf-toolchain, where ld-linux.so.3 is named ld-linux-armhf.so.3. This leads to an error in the target install of glibc.

Do I need to fix my toolchain config or the install_lib function?

No, this is a Bug in the toolchain. I've tried the same thing a few days
ago. This is a problem with gcc-4.7.x. It was fixed in the 4.8 branch and
Linaro back-ported it for its own releases. So only
arm-1136jfs-linux-gnueabihf is affected.  I've pushed a fix to the
toolchain git repository[1]. It will be fixed in the next bugfix release.

We are working on an update with newer patches, but it will probably
have to wait until after the christmas holidays.

I have a beaglebone config based on DistroKit. Probably i can push it somewhere
