Hello,
I am wondering why there is this huge version discrepancy between the latest OSELAS Toolchain (2011.11.3 from 18-Sep-2012) and the latest PTXdist (2012.09.1 from 26-Sep-2012).
As I understand I have to go back nearly one year to PTXdist 2011.11.0 to build the latest Toolchain.
I know that I can have multiple version of PDXdist installed, but I wonder whether there are any interests in updating the Toolchain for a newer PTXdist.
With regards
Adrian Baumgarth

ptxdist is about 'executable documentation' and 'reproducability', which
means that any project specifies the ptxdist version it has been built
with, in order to make things reproducable.
As you can install any ptxdist version in parallel, it is absolutely no
problem to build the toolchain with another ptxdist version than the
BSP.
Having that said, we have recently relaxed the rules for the toolchain a
bit. OSELAS.Toolchain is a bit special in that it uses none of the rules
in ptxdist, just the dependency deduction mechanism. So with reasonably
new ptxdist versions, it is possible to build the toolchains as well.

Hi
Sorry for the off topic post, but as we are talkin toolchains over here:
I've got the impression that the latest stable release of the toolchain
OSELAS-Toolchain-2011.11.3 miscompiles on i.mx35?! I just tried to compile
some stuff and the kernel dumped strange lock error oopses and our user
application had some strange behaviour i couldn't explain: Some function calls
where missed in an unconditional codepath. OSELAS.Toolchain-2011.03.1 works
but sometimes i just try newer toolchains to shake out bugs in the code. So
there is no urge on our side. But as there have been reports on misscompiles
on arm lkml with gcc i thought i might bring that to attention?
Best regards
Tim

Traditionally, OSELAS.Toolchain questions are on-topic on this list :-)

Do you have proper error messages, code examples or test cases?
I havn't heared of problems with the arm11 toolchain recently. We
currently have problems with floating point / NEON with the cortex-a8
toolchain (sometimes floating point registers contain wrong values), but
this is not debugged yet.
But nothing on ARM11 so far.

This sounds more like the new compiler changed the timing and exposed a
kernel bug.

The only thing I've head of is was an issue in the flexcan driver, and that
was one of the reasons for the v2011.11.3 release

btw, this was a kernel bug.
