Do you have any information about this display (resolution, signal

If the 8" display differs from the 7" there is no chance to make it work with 
the 7" settings.

No. You just have to add some of the 8" LCD's technical data to the list of 
LCD devices in the kernel file 'arch/arm/mach-s3c2440/mach-mini2440.c', 
array 'mini2440_lcd_cfg'.
