It was replaced with a more generic option. I guess we need to update the docs: $ ln -s /path/to/your/kernel/tree /local_src/kernel. If this path exists as a directory or link to a directory, then it will be used instead of extracting the source. Note: this is a development feature. When you're done, create the patches + series as you noted above and remove the link.
