Basically it works. I use it to convert utf-8 to iso8859-1 for a LCD display. The only special thing I did in ptxdist is to generate an utf-8 locale. My ptxdist project is at https://bitbucket.org/bwalle/ptxdist-vetero, and my adjusted locales.in and locales.make are at https://bitbucket.org/bwalle/ptxdist-vetero/src/54844be01185/rules. HTH a bit.
